The RubyGems and Github search use the value attrubute as a placeholder. This is very inconvenient especially for the RubyGems search, as the onFocus handler that clears the input field will be attached some secondas after the field has been rendered. This results in me searching for something like "Search Gemscapybara". It would be much nicer if you used the placeholder attribute to render "Search Gems".
