Invalid git repository or URL

I'm getting the error "Invalid git repository or URL" when trying to add the Github project git://github.com/colbell/bitsa. I've tried both the URLs git://github.com/colbell/bitsa and git://github.com/colbell/bitsa.git.

If I take a look at it in a JS debugger I can see that its throwing an internal server error containing the following:
